Director's Message
The Leland Career and Technical Education Center has begun this year with a focus on broadening the educational and technical opportunities for our students. Our staff is providing organizational skills in all programs to gauge our students’ competiveness against other CTE programs across the state. Those organizations/clubs include: FBLA, (Future Business Leaders of America), FFA, (Future Farmers of America), USASKILLS, (Metal Fabrication and Automotive Services), NCEER, (Construction/Carpentry), FCCLA, (Family, Career and Community Leaders of America). My goal as director is to promote partnership with local businesses and organizations to enhance and ensure our students (Leland, Hollandale, and Shaw) with the best employment opportunities. Leland CTE will continue Career Talks, Job Shadowing, Internships, and field trips for our students, albeit through virtual experiences when necessary. The LCTE organization welcomes criticism and addresses it positively. Good teamwork at Leland Career and Technical Educational is respected by the entire educational community. Working in an environment of effective teamwork, the staff have afforded transparent openness; their doors are always open to receive communication. The staff “go to bat” for their students when the situation warrants it, but they are not afraid to personally discuss problems which are affecting students or staff. Hopefully, with a combination of these organizational qualities, the professional team at the Leland Career and Technical Education Center will continue to provide the technical skills as well as 21st Century skills for the students that we serve.
